The state of my brushes is pitiable
Hello all my oil painter friends!
What do you do with your brushes? I have a progression, that goes:
Good, sharp brush (almost new).
Sort of soft, great for cover.
Still sort of sharp, great for pulling off.
Moppy, sort of soft, for spreading and blending.
A little stiff, might as well be a boar’s hair brush.
Getting hard, with separated bristles, great as a rake.
Yes, there are so bristles there. hard and nubby, great for pulling off lines in wet paint.
Well, I hate to throw it out, even though it is no better than a stick.
I am trying to redeem some of my brushes, and at least bring them back to a soft stage. I can at least have some more blending-type brushes. Any hints for bringing back or maintaining sharpness?
