Seen in Bloomfield

bloomfield-bike.jpg

This little gem was chained to a pole right outside of my studio yesterday. I have all sorts of questions –

How do you get off and on?
Why are the wheels different sizes?
What happens when you fall?
Is this your everyday bike or is it just for special occasions?
Do you get honked at a lot in traffic?

But you know, more than anything this bike makes me nostalgic. When I was in grade school, a lot of my peers altered their bikes. They would extend the forks on the front and replace the regular wheel with a tiny buggy wheel. The handlebars were deep and set at an absurd angle. Banana seats were very popular. Do you remember those? I wonder why they fell to the wayside… Anyway, these altered bikes were really hard to ride, especially the steering.

  1. cool. probly made by the garage on Gem Way. they make some awesome designs. And seem nice enough to answer questions like that.

  2. Sorry for the delay, Sam. I have since found out that the bike belongs to one of my studio mates!
