Find the perfect spot for you!<\/p>\n<h2>Quick fix: best brunch by Cape Town suburb<\/h2>\n<p>Cape Town is a sprawling city, so you may prefer to find a fantastic brunch spot near you. I was anticipating an ordinary little cafe, especially after seeing it from the outside. But its lofty, warehouse-like interior, covered in lush plants and art, its antique furniture, and its general vibe defy expectation. It\u2019s picture-perfect!<\/p>\n<p>And of course, the food \u2013 I loved their croissants (and tried each of them with my table; no duds!) and their toasties are just wonderful. The coffees, too, are excellent, I can highly recommend the flat white and the cortado!<\/p>\n<h2>Pauline\u2019s, Sea Point<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 07:00 \u2013 16:00 weekdays | 08:00 \u2013 14:00 weekends<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Relaxed, intimate dates, healthy organic treats and vegan options<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2591\" src=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/paulines-sea-point2.jpg\" alt=\"paulines sea point\" width=\"800\" height=\"857\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/paulines-sea-point2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/paulines-sea-point2-280x300.jpg 280w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/paulines-sea-point2-768x823.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I live up the road from Pauline\u2019s in <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/neighbourhood-guide\/sea-point\/\">Sea Point<\/a>, and it has quickly become my favourite brunch in Cape Town. It\u2019s a sliver of a cafe, intimate and warm, with a semi-inclosed outdoor area brightened by creepers and orange bougainvillaea. Their healthy treats (some vegan, some not) are sublime, and I can\u2019t count the number of times my husband and I have returned for a perfect pair of flat whites, a cardamon roll and a slice of pear and polenta cake!<\/p>\n<p>Both their pulled pork roll and burrata and tomato <i>smoor <\/i>on sourdough are also a treat. And like much of the rest of Sea Point, they\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/tips\/dog-friendly-activities\/\">dog-friendly<\/a>. If you\u2019re not already in Sea Point I recommend parking on the far end of the seaside promenade and strolling along it to reach Pauline\u2019s. You\u2019ll work up a nice appetite, and you certainly won\u2019t mind walking back again. So beautiful!<\/p>\n<h2>Against the Grain, Bo Kaap<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 07:00 \u2013 17:30 weekdays | 07:00 \u2013 16:00 weekends<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Stunning views, Cape Malay koeksisters, and large groups of friends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2573\" src=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/against-the-grain-cafe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/against-the-grain-cafe.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/against-the-grain-cafe-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/against-the-grain-cafe-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A large, spacious cafe overlooking colourful Bo Kaap and Table Mountain beyond it, Against the Grain is just lovely. For the view alone, honestly. But they\u2019re also one of the very few places in the city where you can buy Cape Malay <i>koeksisters <\/i>(dreamy doughy balls with cardamon and aniseed, lightly coated in syrup and rolled in coconut) with your coffee. They also make a mean cheesecake! This is the perfect spot for a group brunch, with nice deep booths and plenty of space.<\/p>\n<h2>Olympia Cafe, Kalk Bay<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 07:00 \u2013 21:00 Sunday to Friday | 07:00 \u2013 19:00 Saturdays<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Baked goods, fresh food, and a beautiful open space overlooking Kalk Bay harbour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2576\" src=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/olympia-cafe2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"554\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/olympia-cafe2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/olympia-cafe2-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/olympia-cafe2-768x532.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve loved Olympia Bakery since I was a little kid, and found out a couple of years ago that the cafe attached to that bakery is just as wonderful. Their coffees are rich, their baked goods absolutely perfect, and for once in my life I ordered a salad here, and even that was fantastic.<\/p>\n<p>The service is also always really lovely, with a real community-knit atmosphere and smiling faces. It\u2019s also, as you see, located in <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/neighbourhood-guide\/kalk-bay\/\">Kalk Bay, Cape Town\u2019s most charming seaside neighbourhood<\/a>! If you visit, be sure to stroll along the main street and pop into some of the lovely thrift stores and galleries. You also won\u2019t regret stopping in at the bakery and taking some shortbread and\/or cinnamon twists home with you! I still dream of those cinnamon twists\u2026<\/p>\n<h2>The Gardeners Cottage, Newlands<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 08:00 \u2013 16:30 Tuesday to Saturday | 08:30 \u2013 16:30 Sunday | Closed on Mondays<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Charming outdoor seating and a bustling, arty vibe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2588\" src=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/gardeners-cottage.jpg\" alt=\"the gardeners cottage newlands\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/gardeners-cottage.jpg 750w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/gardeners-cottage-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Despite <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/local-knowledge\/indigenous-plantlife\/\">Cape Town\u2019s stunning indigenous plantlife<\/a>, most of our cafes and restaurants are very much indoor affairs. Not Gardeners Cottage! Nestled under massive trees and surrounded by greenery, it\u2019s a strikingly beautiful spot. The food is tasty, and the service fast and friendly.<\/p>\n<p>This restaurant is part of Montebello Centre, a semi-outdoor space in <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/adventures\/newlands-cape-town\/\">Newlands <\/a>with a nursery, artists&#8217; studios, craft workshops, and even an organic produce stand. It\u2019s a really lovely place to spend the morning. Just be sure to book a spot at Gardeners Cottage, as they fill up quick.<\/p>\n<h2>Sonder Cafe, Observatory<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 07:30 \u2013 16:00 Monday to Friday | 08:00 \u2013 15:00 Saturday | Closed on Sundays<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Beautiful local art, fresh juices, book swap and board games<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2610\" src=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sonder-cafe-obs1.jpg\" alt=\"sonder cafe observatory\" width=\"800\" height=\"1046\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sonder-cafe-obs1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sonder-cafe-obs1-229x300.jpg 229w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sonder-cafe-obs1-783x1024.jpg 783w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sonder-cafe-obs1-768x1004.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re an art-lover, you\u2019ll adore Sonder. I walked in here for a quick fresh juice while strolling along <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/neighbourhood-guide\/observatory\/\">Observatory\u2019s Lower Main<\/a>, and came away with a little art piece and a new favourite place.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s small and sunshiny, with tall walls covered in local art. It has a calm, cosy atmosphere, buttery-soft pastries, and picture-perfect decor. And my favourite part \u2013 they also have a little book-swap library and some table-top games, so whatever your vibe, you\u2019re sure to have a good time of it!<\/p>\n<h2>Harveys at Winchester Mansions, Seapoint<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 12:00 \u2013 15:00 Daily<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Decadent meals in a beautiful setting overlooking Sea Point promenade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2574\" src=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/winchester-hotel-harveys-restaurant.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/winchester-hotel-harveys-restaurant.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/winchester-hotel-harveys-restaurant-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/winchester-hotel-harveys-restaurant-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fancy some fine dining late brunch? Harveys opens at 12 pm with a decadent menu and a view overlooking the Promenade and the ocean beyond it. Their food is honestly glorious, but their stuffed sweet potato is an unexpected winner, and the desserts are melt-in-your-mouth.<\/p>\n<h2>Firefly Cafe, Camps Bay<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 07:00 \u2013 16:00 Monday to Saturday | 07:00 \u2013 15:30 Sunday<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Tasty healthy dishes and perfect flat whites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This trendy little cafe is located right on the Camps Bay strip, a stone\u2019s throw from the tidal pool. With floor-to-ceiling windows, deep green velvet and wood decor, and a menu that switches it up between healthy and decadent, it\u2019s an Insta-worthy brunch spot. It\u2019s also a great spot for vegans and the health-conscious brunchers among us. A few of my favourites here are the chocolate croissant with a cortado and the vegan Mexican bowl!<\/p>\n<h2>Azure Restaurant at the Twelve Apostles, Camps Bay<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 07:00 \u2013 22:00 Daily<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Fantastic, decadent buffet breakfasts and a stunning sea view<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both the high tea here and the buffet breakfast are absolutely spectacular. My husband and I enjoyed the buffet breakfast the morning after our wedding, and we felt like we were in a movie! Think mimosas, oysters, bottomless cappuccinos, and brilliant cold meats \u2013 and that\u2019s just the start. All with a stunning view over the ocean \u2013 the Twelve Apostles hotel is nestled against the hill with greenery on either side of it and the far-stretching ocean before you. I highly recommend saving this brunch spot for a sunny mid-morning!<\/p>\n<p>Oh \u2013 and the high tea is just as fantastic, with sweet treats and little sandwiches, and such a lovely selection of teas. It\u2019s a real treat.<\/p>\n<h2>Honest Chocolate Cafe, City Centre<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 10:00 \u2013 18:00 Monday \u2013 Thursday | 10:00 \u2013 21:00 Friday &amp; Saturday | 09:00 \u2013 17:00 Sunday<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Chocolatey goodness and a cute vibe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2589\" src=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/honest-chocolate-cafe-2.jpg\" alt=\"honest chocolate cafe\" width=\"800\" height=\"573\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/honest-chocolate-cafe-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/honest-chocolate-cafe-2-300x215.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/honest-chocolate-cafe-2-768x550.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This one is for our sweet tooths! Honest Chocolate is an artisanal, organic chocolate company based in Cape Town. Their cafe, located right in the city centre, uses their chocolate in a variety of delightful ways. My absolute favourites are the rich orange hot chocolate, the banana bread bunny chow (featured in the pic), and their salted caramel and choc tart.<\/p>\n<p>This is also a lovely place to go brunching with small groups \u2013 we celebrated a friend\u2019s birthday here on a rainy day, and it was perfect.<\/p>\n<h2>EarthWorx Nursery, Hout Bay<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hours:<\/b> 10:00 \u2013 18:00 Monday \u2013 Thursday | 10:00 \u2013 21:00 Friday &amp; Saturday | 09:00 \u2013 17:00 Sunday<\/li>\n<li><b>Best for:<\/b> Fruit-covered waffles and doggy treats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now this is a bit of a random one, but this is one of my favourite places to be when exploring <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/neighbourhood-guide\/hout-bay\/\">Hout Bay<\/a>. The nursery cafe is also a fantastic <a href=\"https:\/\/wandercapetown.com\/tips\/cheap-things-to-do-in-cape-town\/\">budget-friendly spot in Cape Town<\/a>. The waffles here are also our all-time favourite, as they\u2019re simple and fresh, and topped with seasonal fruit, ice cream and syrup.<\/p>\n<p>They also have these doggy icecreams \u2013 hooves filled with a dog-friendly stew and frozen \u2013 will keep your pup busy and very happy your whole stay. That is, of course, if you have a dog! It\u2019s very human-friendly too, though, and a stroll through the nursery is a lovely way to end off your visit.<\/p>\n<h2>Brunch time<\/h2>\n<p>Now there\u2019s nothing to do but to pick the perfect one for your day plans, and go brunching!
